2. enough with this engelstad crap. i absolutely give up on trying to convince people that just because he was nice to somebody once or twice or a dozen times doesn't mean he was actually a good guy. i'm sure he was nice to the people at the imperial palace! i'm sure his family, friends, and neighbors in thief river falls thought he was just super! unfortunately, (a) none of that made him less racist or anti-intellectual and (b) his behavior toward individuals, especially individuals who looked and thought like him, seemed to have very little bearing on his behavior toward the rest of the world. end of story.
