everyone says the end of the first year is a Bad Time -- the beginnings of course burnout, the insatiable urge to do your research and your research only, the sheer accumulated intensity of the thousands and thousands of pages sitting, half-digested, in your brain-gullet. speaking of brain-gullets, i have been on a major binge lately: sixty references, so far, for a paper that's only twenty five pages long. MUST STOP READING AND START WRITING AAAAAACK.

in much better news, i keep hearing from folks at princeton and elsewhere about the FRIST FILIBUSTER, which is becoming a real phenomenon. kellam called me on sunday to tell me about it, and mainstream media coverage is ramping up as the thing approaches 250 hours. go student activism!
