a question

how much of yourself is too much of yourself to put on the web? i mean, i know it varies from person to person...but why? for the purposes of the exploration, let's assume we all have pretty much unlimited access to the web. so why do some of us become justin hall, some of us heather armstrong, some of us mimi smartypants, some of us pre-outing atrios? what about friendster or myspace or facebook is attractive (or repellent)? would you post a craigslist personal? would you respond to one? how do you feel about being googled?
