ugh.

the adminstration has as good as admitted that it wishes "the intelligence community" (the CIA, mostly) to be able to use torture without oversight. that the administration has any stake in practices that approximate "the pain caused by organ failure...or even death" is shameful enough. deploying those practices without consequence, while at the same time disavowing abuses at abu ghraib, should by just plain unbelievable; too bad it sounds par-for-the-course to me.
