ah, the slightly inappropriate, slightly-too-personal post. it's not normally advisable, i know. however, on this occasion i think the sentiment is generally applicable and brilliantly stated -- and furthermore, no names! so here it is. a friend (yes, an actual friend. not the afraid-to-admit-it's-me hypothetical kind, because i don't write this well) recently wrote,

"I feel like I've spent my entire life watching boys throw girls away that they should thank their lucky stars to have snagged in the first place. Such carelessness! Such predictable stupidity! How can it be that these boys, so smart about other things, seem to rush headlong toward committing blatant mistakes when it comes to these beautiful, subtle, fun, clever, joyful women?"

isn't that great? i mean...not the phenomenon, which is terrible and which i've both witnessed and experienced, but the rush of solidarity and mutual defense among women. gawd, my friends are great.
