i am still alive. this is not really all that surprising, but still i find myself rather impressed about it. desdemona went well saturday and sunday, despite my total lack of voice off-stage. this week exists in a flurry of catch-up work and job applications -- found out today that i'm a finalist for one of the jobs i applied for, and am also in the process of sending out another, this one to the friends' committee on national legislation. woo hoo.

...i would post some news commentary, but i'm too overwhelmed with bad feelings. somehow the bush administration has managed to skip directly to the successful conclusion of the iraq war, and has started publicizing its plans to "democratize" and "deal with" iraq. why do they get to do that???
