(no, just kidding, i do understand how it makes me a little postmodern.)

that said, i'm not giving up on the fact that this could be an objectively measurable concept...for instance, i'd like to get a better economic understanding of wealth and income stratification, then do survey or interview research to determine how low or middle income people understand stratification, and where they get their information. then i'd like to compare the facts of the matter to people's perceptions. see, in my head we can't all just generate our own facts and have them be equally acceptable, so i would expect that if elites were disinforming the broader public about who benefits from certain economic programs (for example), then that could be shown as a matter of fact.
