in other news, there was a hideously depressing article in the new york times this morning detailing the leaps and bounds by which feminism is growing on network television: there's a "plump" (yes, that *is* the word they used) woman starring in a sitcom! be still my heart! the best part, of course, is that this is a woman soooo plump that something like 50% of american women are heavier than her, weight-for-height. possibly more, since although she's advertised as a 12, the person in the picture is more like an 8 or a 10. (yes, that's right, that means this woman is at the 50th percentile of plump, which is...average! not plump, average! there hasn't been a "plump" woman on TV since roseanne.) ah, the sweet smell of progress.
